On a freezing Sunday morning on the 24th of March, the double-award winning, Cardiff Rivers Group partnered with the Friends of Bute Park, Cardiff Trail Scrubs and two Police Officers and returned to Bute Park to continue tidying up the banks.
The recent high rain full had washed down a variety of river debris creating an eye sore along the banks of the Taff.
The team of 30 eager volunteers worked the banks and collected 43 bags of rubbish and also larger items such as 2 trolleys, 3 car tyres, rubber dingy, electric typewriter, tent, traffic cone, kids ride on toy tractor, kids scooter, two bike frames.
During the event, a local lady out walking the dog, discarded her duties, picked up a bag and gloves and got stuck in.
David King, who managed the event commented that "All things considered, it An excellent effort by a team of really committed people. There is more to be done in this area so a future event in Bute Park is guaranteed."
