Our Friends in the Park

The double-award winning, Cardiff Rivers Group, joined forces with the Friends of Bute Park last weekend to tackle litter on the banks of the River Taff in Bute Park.

30 volunteers worked hard for over 2 hours to collect 36 bags of rubbish, 4 bags of recycling, 5 traffic cones, 2 tyres, a chair, trolley, plastic sheeting and paddling pool.

All rubbish was disposed of by Cardiff County Council’s Parks Services.

Dave King of Cardiff Rivers Group said, "It was great to undertake a joint event with the Friends of Bute Park that effectively doubled the number of people tackling this important area. We are looking forward to joining forces again on the 24th March to tackle further downstream where it is particularly bad. Hopefully we will have even more volunteers at that event”.

During the event, a large numbers of passers-by stopped to chat, and thanked the volunteers for their hard work.

The volunteers will be returning to the park on Sunday 24th March to tackle the stretch alongside the nursery. All volunteers welcome!
