WE ONLY WON….!!!!

Nigel our esteemed Secretary has some amazing news about CRG:

Yesterday, three of us had the honour of representing Cardiff Rivers Group (CRG) at the Tidy Wales Awards 2012 at the Pierhead, Cardiff bay supported by Dave and Louise in their official Keep Wales Tidy (KWT) capacities.

It was a well organised affair with a few big names like Tom Shanklin, Wales Rugby legend, and John Griffiths, Minister for the Environment and Sustainable development.

Well, you’ll never guess what….

WE ONLY WON….!!!!

Both the River Improvement category and the Overall winner award and pocketed £500  prize money.

The trophies are pretty damn impressive and we’ll bring them along to the next social event for you all to inspect and hold.

I’m hoping that this news will be splashed over the newspapers tomorrow, so keep an eye out for it.

Meanwhile, you can see the official pictures of the awards here
The victorious winners!

If you want to see us on the tele, the S4C programme - Heno, go to the S4C website here.

Pictures from the Awards start at 1:15 to 6:16, so there is about 5 minutes of footage including Rheinallt doing a great job of representing KWT. If you look hard in the background you may spot a circle of us chatting away before some of us sloped off to the pub to celebrate.

We were representing you so well done to each and every one of you for being a part of the Cardiff Rivers Group.

I think that these awards are a fitting tribute to us and the work that we do and recognition of the wonderful things we continue to do for our capital City.

I for one am proud to say I belong to the Cardiff Rivers Group and know that you too share that passion.

Our colleagues, friends and families will be proud of us when they hear the news and realise what a huge achievement winning both of these awards actually is.

Finally, thanks to the guys at KWT for putting on such a good gig, especially Catherine and the team who did the organising. Bravo!

Kind regards
Nigel (a.k.a. Sec)
