18 steely volunteers, and two of the boys in blue (PCSOs) braved the cold and beavered away clearing the area of 45 bags of rubbish.
Apart from what seemed like a million plastic bottles, the haul included a lorry tyre, a plethora of footballs, Lego figures, plastic crates, traffic cones as well as dozens of needles which were also collected and disposed of safely.
Treasure, in the form of a box of gold (plated) cuff links, was also recovered and has been stored should the owner recognise it and want to be reunited.

Patrick McElhinney from the Harbour Authority said "The volunteers have done a fantastic job and have made a huge difference to this eyesore area. They have done a superb job in tidying up this area in only a couple of hours, well done Cardiff Rivers Group!”
